The chat plugin that adds nothing to your pages
One script tag, the same one you could paste by hand. Sublex Chat for WordPress exists so you do not have to paste it, and so your next theme update cannot lose it.
What it does that a pasted line cannot
- It survives your next theme update
- Because it never touches a theme file. On a block theme there is no header.php to paste into at all.
- It follows your dashboard
- Change the colour, the wording or the shape there and this site changes on its own. Nothing to paste a second time.
- It connects with eight characters
- A code from your dashboard fetches your key and adds this site to your allowed list in one go. No key to copy, no list to edit.
- It tells you when something is wrong
- If the site is not on the allowed list the settings screen says so, instead of leaving a chat window that appears and never answers.
- It hides where you want it hidden
- Give it a page ID, a slug or a web address. A checkout or a thank-you page is the usual reason.

Installing it
Two minutes, and the only thing you need is a connection code.

Create an assistant. It reads your website and is answering questions in a couple of minutes. Start with your web address.

Install the plugin. In WordPress: Plugins, Add New, Upload, then choose the zip and activate it.

Type in a connection code. Press Make a connection code on the Website tab of your dashboard. It does the rest.

What it sends, and where
The question a careful site owner asks first, answered before it is asked.
The plugin talks to Sublex Chat and to nowhere else. Twice a day, and whenever you save its settings, it asks one question: it sends your assistant's public key and your site's own web address, and gets back what your chat window should look like and whether your site is on the allowed list.
Nothing about your visitors, your posts, your users or your email address is ever sent. Your visitors' browsers load the chat itself directly from Sublex Chat, exactly as they would from a pasted tag.
The key is not a password. It names one assistant and can do nothing else, which is why it is safe to paste into a settings field. See the privacy policy and how isolation is built.
